Musical Lectures

In the past couple years I have come to realize what profound things can be expressed through music.  A song doesn't have to be hymn for it to emotionally effect you, although hymns are very powerful as well.  People my age so often overlook the great power of music.  We all have our music that is quite honestly meaningless garbage that's fun to dance to.  A.K.A. the Hip-Hop/Rap genre.  A lot of times within the lyrics you find  the artist commonly talking about things like getting drunk or how big the rims on their souped up car are, etc etc.  When I listen to music I want to be able to feel the emotions and understand it.  But, words are not a requirement for an emotionally powerful song.

Sometimes it takes a little digging to find such music, but it's out there.  Go find some and like it.  Listen to what you like, not what other people like.  Form your own opinions about music.

Challenge of the Day:  Take a couple hours and try to find music that you enjoy that you can feel.  Find depth in the notes.

I've been feeling a little sick today, but I think these nasty soothing cold lozenges might be helping.  I hope.  Lozenge is a really funky word.  It sounds foreign.

I'm not perfect.

Agreed.

I feel that dancey music is nice for a time, but when music and inspire emotion, THAT is music, really.
